Best of Oregon Camping: Rock Creek Reservoir Campground

This campground could easily be overlooked. There isn't anything particularly spectacular about this place. However, this was one of my daughter's favorite camping trips! I'm not exactly sure how we ended up camping here but I think we had tried camping at the Upper Deschutes Campground and the temperature dropped uncomfortably low at night because it was only May so we decided to try somewhere else. Anyway, this campground was our last hope before calling it quits and heading home. We ended up being very comfortable here and my daughter had so much fun playing in the water and mud. We had some pretty sunrises and sunsets and got to see geese and ducks swim by. It was nice to be on a lake without jet-skis and boats making a racket at the crack of dawn. The campground site was pretty large and quiet and very enjoyable. When we drove into town to grab ice there was a lawn mower race taking place behind a restaurant. We definitely got a kick out of watching that!

P.S. Don't forget the bug spray!
